Cutting Edge 2024  16th - 18th August

Tallington Lakes, Stamford

Following our success as winners of the BWSW Cutting Edge Competition in 2023, The Llangorse Legends headed back to Tallington Lakes to defend our title....

Our team for 2024 - Harry Payne (age 14), Louis Welch (age 8), Max Reakes (age 15), Aarron Croly (Age 15), James Mathias (age 14), & Holly Mathias (age 12) - (Not forgetting our little mascot Eddie!) were hungry for another victory.

The competition was strong this year, and it was clear that our opponents had come prepared to take us on, but we knew what we had to do....

We kicked off the competition on Day 1 with Kneeboard Slalom! A discipline some of our team members decided to drop this year in favour of the trick ski, but our Kneeboarding ace Harry Payne romped home in 1st place, followed right behind in 2nd place by James Mathias. (Louis 7th, Aarron 9th)

Next up was Trick Ski....A new discipline for our team this year which was found to be thoroughly enjoyable, and although Yorkshire & Humberside took the win for this discipline, Harry Payne secured 3rd place and added the all important points for our team. (James 4th, Holly 5th, Max 7th)

Kneeboard Trick followed. The shortest timed discipline at just 40 seconds per pass (2) proved challenging when trying to show off all their skills, and although Yorkshire & Humberside took another win,  James Mathias pulled it out of the bag placing 2nd, followed by Holly Mathias in 3rd. â€‹

We were all very much feeling the pressure as Y&H

The sun continued to shine as we headed towards the final discipline of the day - Barefoot

Something that our team had never attempted before so our only participant was Aarron who definitely took one for the team coming in to dock battered and bruised...but got us those points!

After a long A team BBQ during the evening

As we fast forward 4 years and once again enter our team 'The Llangorse Legends' into the BWSW Cutting Edge Competition we are so proud to announce that the Llangorse Legends absolutely smashed it taking 1st place on the podium....what a win!! For the first time in 25 years our name will be on the BWSW Cutting Edge trophy.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication and passion of our amazing BWSW Cutting Edge training team Justin Rice, Martyn Reakes, & Lee Welch, along with our expert team coach Emily Reakes, and the great support and encouragement from the parents. Every single second of your time and patience has been very much appreciated. Thank you all!!

Without a doubt, another fabulous weekend to remember...well done, once again to The Llangorse Legends!!!

Wow! wow! wow! What a weekend...

For the first time ever LLangorse Lake Waterski Club entered a team 'The Llangorse Legends' into the BWSW Cutting Edge Competition 2019 and placed 5th out of 13 teams!

The Cutting Edge Boat Competition is a national grassroots competition for young skiers and riders aged 16 and under to compete against each other individually and in regional teams, and showcase what they have learnt over the last year.

Our team 'The Llangorse Legends' headed up by team manager and coach Martyn Reakes, working along side Training Officer Steve Williams were:

Liam Williams, Joshua Ashman, Leah Ashman - Penny, Jasmine Lapish, Emily Reakes, & Georgia Lakey.

Our 6 competitors had fantastic results over 4 disciplines and a big shout out must go to Leah Ashman-Penny and Emily Reakes who took joint top girl award in the Kneeboard Slalom event, both 11th out of 56 - Well done girls!

Joshua Ashman placed 5th in the Slalom out of 49, followed by Liam Williams in 11th place. Well done lads!

Although we did not take a podium place, coming 5th for our first year is a massive step forward for such a small club like Llangorse and we are very proud of our achievements.

A huge congratulations to all of the LLWSC Cutting Edge Team for incredible effort and determination throughout the whole event.  Thanks to all of the parents, supporters, and everyone who helped out in making the weekend such a success.

Simon Waring @ Wake & Ski sent us this message through facebook:
